“We are doing this because we have so many stories, and instead of begging the mainstream to tell them, we will tell them ourselves,” says producer, Jade Foster. “That’s the point of a poet. To remind folks that they’re experiences, their trials and triumphs are real. That they matter. Just through the simple act of talking to each other, we become more women, we become testament. That’s the point of the tour.”

The Revival 2012: Women. Wine. The Word.
October 5-14, 2012 marks the 3rd annual salon-styled poetry tour, THE REVIVAL. A 9 day community-funded tour of independent artists, THE REVIVAL travels to Toronto, Brooklyn, Chicago, Atlanta, DC and Durham. Honoring a queer tradition of demanding safe space, THE REVIVAL is a night of poetry, music and more – each event takes place in a local home.
Propelled by a successful Kickstarter campaign raising over $5,000, this year’s touring troupe includes Cave Canem fellow, t’ai freedom ford, DC arts icon, Solsis, and folksinger, B. Steady. Each artist brings their personal flair for performance and language with work exploring love, sex, and spirituality.
