In honor of Trans Day of Remembrance, GLAAD released a powerful video with three transgender women of color speaking truth to power. They detail the threats and physical violence they’ve survived, as well as the nation’s epidemic of violence against the transgender community, and what TDOR means to them. The women featured in the video are Miasha Forbes, Center for HIV Educational Studies & Training; Daniella Carter, Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word; and Cecilia Gentili, APICHA Community Health Center.

“Transgender Day of Remembrance is a reality that I live mostly every day, every day that I personally experience violence…I have 300 patients and one day doesn’t go by when somebody comes to me about a story about violence and being mistreated,” said Cecilia. Watch the gripping video below. Witness these women’s vulnerability and resilience.

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) honors the lives lost to anti-transgender hate violence and raises awareness around the staggering rates of brutality trans people face every day. For more information, go to www.tdor.info.
