Last week, Brooklyn emcee Siya stopped by Fuse TV to discuss her new reality show, Sisterhood of Hip Hop. The show, which is produced by Grammy Award-winning rapper T.I. follows the rapper and fellow hip hop artists Brianna Perry, Diamond, Bia and Nyemiah Supreme as they attempt to flourish in the music industry while living and loving.

During the segment, Siya talked about her parents and childhood struggles. “My mother was on drugs and my father was incarcerated for the rest of his life,” the “Heaven” rapper shared. “All the struggles that I went through made me exactly who I am. So I’m not ashamed of anything I went through.”

Last week, Siya posted a video on Instagram shouting out T.I. for the opportunity and for being a part of helping her break barriers in the LGBT community. In 2012, Siya released her mixtape D.Y.K.E. (Damn You Killin’ Em) and is currently working on her upcoming release Black Box.
